Your Tungsten beads suck, here's why!
Don't know what river you're fishing so I'm not sure that people call that the holy water!?!
No offense, because it is a nice video but fishing with a bobber. Really?
Just another day in California. Place totally sux. :D
1/10 would not recommend
You are using indicator rig upstream in high water and cutting the drift short. That makes it hard to target deep bigger crevices where the bigger fish wait. You are picking up smaller ones that can wait behind a little rock in the shallower water.
I’ve just bought one of these rods for our fishing trip in south Uist.
I used to fear tying with deer hair but I now absolutely love using it. Davie McPhail has some fantastic fly tying videos on here and his deer hair technique is sublime.
Awesome
This is in the greatest state if you are eondering, CALIFORNIA
.. Incredible combination of conditions leading to epic fishing... SOOOOoooo..... what's it cost to get shown this spot? :) ps. you dropped enough hints a native californian trout dude probably has it figured out. Might have to try the private option experience some day while I am still fit enough for the hike.
Sounds like you've got it figured out. I'm not sure that the private section is any better, probably less trash ha. I don't advertise guiding here, but we could work something out :D
I was just there. How did you get down to the water? I couldn’t find a path over the bridge
If you walk far enough you'll find away down.
Omg I was just typing that’s a straight Indiana Jones bridge and you said it! 😂😂
haha it would totally be blocked off if it were in CA
Hello love videos what river would you recommend for someone that is disabled that can’t walk the rocks the big rocks to fly fish thanks for the help
That's a tough one around Mt. Shasta the wading is all pretty rocky. Hat creek might be your best bet. There are some small streams I could recommend, but you're going to need to find smaller water.
I saw you fishing a Frenchie so go to Fly Fish Food and watch the originator tie one up. Super Simple pattern and by changing colors you can really cover them all. Between a Frenchie/Pheasant tail, Walts Worm/Hare's Ear and thread or foil Perdigons and you have 90% of small Euro nymphing covered. All you need is quailty bobbins, whip finisher and scissors I would recommend Loon. After that unfortunately, materials and hooks and tungsten beads start adding up. I good jig hook in 12-16 and some gold slotted beads etc all come in ~$10 packs. So it migth cost $40 for the materials for one style of fly, but you can tie as many as you have hooks and beads and can afford. The per fly cost is very low, but you end up with tons of feathers and dubbing etc. Apparently you already have a vice but don't skimp on tools. Buy good ones and you'll enjoy using them for many years.
Ha all very true, we don't really tie because it's cheaper. For me it's about unlimited supply. I can take more risks, loose a fly and not care too much. I can make more when I get home.
What river is this? I did not pick it up from the video.
It’s a secret. Maybe this channel is more about sales.
How you liking the non-euro specific 10ft 4wt? I'm looking to follow suit but not sure what make and model I want to go with or go traditional and make euro stuff work or go euro and make traditional stuff work.
I hear ya on having to choose a single rod. A euro rod will be softer and probably feel lighter to cast, but it's not super great with fly line. I love my 10ft 4wt recons, it's not a super fast rod, so it can load up a mono rig pretty well.
Hi Eric, Thanks for the video!
Miss that place.
New subscriber. Hit the button because you fished all my favorite flies in this video! Beautiful river.
Thanks Franky, definitely enjoyed your videos! Loved the one with the angler excuses lol
Awesome video. Makes me want cold weather again!
Oh man, I'm so ready for fall already :D
I know it sounds crazy but the darker the water the darker the fly.. crawled all over the rivers in Northern California.. amazing video!!
I’ve owned Sage for 20 years never had issues. My experience
shasta-trinity forest is trout and bass fishing heaven!
The best bobbin is the one each individual likes.
Been a while Eric, great video and fishing!
Thanks Andrew, it has been killing me how long this video has taken. Time to pick up the pace
Great vid - love days like this, especially in places like that!
If you're ever south of the border, I'd happily give ya the tour.
@@driftstone that would be pretty cool, thank Eric!
There is no single such thing as "Holy Water". Any water that fishes well is "Holy Water". OMG! Eurodorking using a bobber? Using a net on a small fish? For God's sake, don't fall in!
Keep those knots Rusty with a strong hock tuah
Would be nice to mention the name of the river.
That’s a big no no in the fly fishing community. It’s called spot burning.
So if you fish the Mississippi river you cant say its the mississippi because thats “spot burning”? Lame
@@Jo-xx2rd the Mississippi and the Nile Rivers are the exception.
Long time no see. I miss your videos my friend. Always entertaining and beautiful scenery.
Good to see a comment from you, Hope to get the cadence back up to normal here!
Great video shots, even underneath the truck.
Thanks, those were fun to get. Got this cool magnetic mount so it was pretty easy to get, was just afraid it would fall off.
Fished that section once before. Ran into a big rattle snake and haven't gone back since haha but it is gorgeous in there. Another awesome video. I especially like the biginning. Good work brother.
Ehhh a huge rattlesnake never hurt nobody 😂 Hope you've been out fishing
@driftstone maybe not lol but that thing had me on edge the w h o l e d a y 🤣
It’s always a good day when Eric Leslie uploads…
:D Thanks bro!
Cet endroit est magnifique . Bonjour de Louiiane . bonne peche .
Merci d'être passé. Est-ce que vous pêchez en mer là-bas ?
@@driftstone Ne en Louisianne.
I highly recommend Driftstone flies! I have caught many fish on Eric's flies. My personal fave are his thin mints but if he offers it, it can catch trout.
☝🏾 I second that
Thanks Dave and FreeForm, that's part of why my videos have been slow. I've spent a tone of time tying for folks. It's humbling!
@@driftstone You are my go to fly guy! But feel free to take time for other things...LIKE FISHING!!!
👎 this is the most nonsensical rubbish
Are you fishing in Oregon or Washington.
Oh my...a new video from my FAVORITE angler brother. Gonna settle in!
Thanks brother!
Man, that is some awesome looking water! Great video as usual. Cheers!
It's a special place, one of my favorites!
Frenchie for the win!! I may need to purchase some more from you soon. I have been absolutely hammering rainbows at my local river with your Frenchie and even a really nice size brown on it as well. Great Video once again Eric.
Those Frenchie's man, I'm telling ya. They're some kind of magic, I'm glad they're working for you too!
It’s a good day when Eric drops a vid!!
Thanks Oz, need to get back into a rhythm
I was there in october when it was dusty and dry, super cool to see the same river so green and vibrant
October can be another great time of year to be down there. Lots of hatches and it can rain too. Always fun down there
Great video man. Always appreciate your content. Cheers.
Thanks Ben, thanks for watching
Good day on the river! A Driftstone insider told me we should get some stillwater videos soon! looking forward to that too.
Lies, damned lies :D
@@driftstone You have a mole in the org.
Very excited to see an Eric Leslie video!!!!
Thanks Rosin, it was stupid hard getting this out, need to get back into a rhythm.
👍 been waiting awhile for a new episode
This is the longest time between videos in ages, can't let that happen again
Buy a Douglas or Echo Rod insted,. much better
I've since picked up an Orvis and Echo rods and have tested their service. Both got me next parts in a couple weeks.
Were you above or below the falls?
Look below the lake
warning, many rattlesnakes....from experience!
I can see that for sure, hot rocky canyon is a rattler's habitat for sure! Watch where you sit down
Very nice. My son and I fished that stream back in 2010 as part of the HTC (Certs 248 & 149). Looks the same. Was even slightly discolored. I'm guessing we fished the stream you were hoping to reach. I struggled to get one there getting one right at dusk. Loved the vid. Thanks for sharing. Makes me think about trying to get another with the ones I didn't get last time.
Right on, I'm hoping to pursue more of them this year. Which ones did you get?
Kern River Rainbow and Goldens in 2009 trip to the Kern Plateau. Then north in 2010 for the McCloud Redband, Coastal Cutthroat, Warner Mtn Redband, and the Goose Lake Redband. Epic road trip with my son.
Where are your secret spots bruh?
What even is this 😂
I got a 360cam and it can do these affects..I want it for float tubing on a lake
I think you ought to have dealt with the dealer who sold it to you rather than the manufacture in this case, especially as it was brand new unfished.... Any of the dealers from which I buy would've had my back. Going the warranty route here was the wrong route --- which sucks because the sage of old just isn't the farbank sage of today. I hope it is fixed sooner than anticipated...
I fish but not a fisherman. I haven't even seen a fish and I have those special sunglasses.
